ASPIRES

     Project ASPIRES addresses the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ages 5-7) in a public school setting affording the opportunity for inclusion and integration with their typically developing peers. The program reflects the districts' philosophy promoting a multi-disciplinary, multi-sensory approach and unified team approach within the classroom environment. Project ASPIRES advances the aspiration of educators and parents to work together as a team in a unified approach to learning both in school and in the community, during the school year and throughout the summer in an extended school year.

      The Mansfield Township School District serves as the Lead Educational Agency and is in partnership with the Springfield, Chesterfield, New Hanover and Beverly City School School Districts. Together, we share a vision of providing a comprehensive program in a least restrictive environment. The program offers two primary education classes for students ages 5-7 at the John Hydock Elementary School.

      The program addresses the need for intense staff and parent training on the numerous aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorder. These include;

     Language and Communication skill development
     Social and emotional growth
     Sensory integration
     Assistive technologies and augmentative devices
     Academic development
     Independent organizational skills
     Fine and gross motor skill development
     Our Commitment

     Project ASPIRES meets the demand for advanced staff and parent learning opportunities in multiple areas such as Applied Behavioral Analysis strategies, Discrete Trial training, and integrated multi-sensory and multi-learning approaches. In addition, communicative and interpersonal issues will be addressed.
